    My personal take on LR4

So I played with the beta a bit, but ignored it because it would not convert my catalogs.

With the final release, here is what "I" found ...

      1. install and catalog conersion went very smoothly
      2. editIn works for me (I know it does not for others, some un-initialized piece of data probably), BUT Adobe should have been more up-front about the need for ACR-7 which does not exist yet, or ACR-6.7 which sort of exists but who knew we needed it? or do we need it? does it really work?
      3. I have no problems with the new "Basic Adjustments" -- just takes some learning
      4. A smaller point, but in the Print Module, since I use multiple catalogs, I export my templates all the time.  When I select "export" it does not provide a default filename for the export, which LR3 did and which I used all the time  -- since my template names tend to be long, this is a real nuisance! ... why would anyone do that???
      5. speed seems just fine to me -- but then I have a new Win7 box, nice and up-to-date

So some positives and two negatives ...

      • ACR 7 and/or 6.7 not mentioned up front (or too easy to miss if it was there somewhere)
      • Export of Print templates do not default filename

Not great, but not terrible -- from my point of view

Yes, ACR 6.7 RC1 will process out images with PV 2012 adjustment settings...you can't access the control UI but it can render the new process. And Adboe was pretty upfront in the beta, everytime you opened it in a previous version of Photoshop you got the warning, right? What Adobe didn't do was tip their hand that there would be a Camera Raw 6.7 version that can process the new PV.

There was no hint that ACR 7 would NOT be available when LR4 was released -- I gather people with more experience assumed that, but those of us who only every used LR3 and CS5 would not have historical knowledge to call on.

Also, it was only reading the forums that I figured I should try and find ACR 6.7 -- and its in RC mode at this point -- so yes one black mark I think

For other users I hope the editIn issues get found and fixed -- I know from experience that these can be difficult to find!   For me, it works, and I am reasonably happy!
