John Hawkinson Mar 15, 2012 1:28 AM (in response to TwitchOSX)but Font Book seems to cry about just about every font I want to install.
Why does "cry" mean in this context?

SuperMacGuy Mar 15, 2012 5:51 AM (in response to TwitchOSX)I (and where I work) dumped Suitcase long ago. It's horrible.
Now I use Font Explorer (from Linotype). I have the old free version and it's still awesome. Haven't used it on Lion 10.7 (I hate Lion) I am still using Snow Leopard 10.6.

TwitchOSX Mar 15, 2012 9:00 AM (in response to John Hawkinson)It means "throw up error messages left and right" or "b*tch and moan" but I didn't want to go there at first =)

I think you must not have any idea how idea frustrating it is to be told that there is a problem but not told what it is.
This is a guaranteed way to make anyone who does IT support get extremely frustrated and reduce a lot of good-will.
But let me be explicit:
What is the precise wording of the error messages?
It almost always critical to report the error message text, not to say that there are errors or other vague terms.
Thanks!

TwitchOSX Mar 15, 2012 9:20 AM (in response to John Hawkinson)I know what your're talking about. I used to do phone support for an ISP.
Anyway, this last one that has me up in arms says this:
"1 serious error was found. Do not use this font."
This is in the Font Validation window when I try to install into Font Book. It shows the font name "Serpentine-Bold-Bold.ttf" in the window with an expand triangle to the left. To the far right is a red circle with a white X in it. Ahh screw it, here's a screenshot....
This font works perfectly fine on our G5 running 10.5.8

P Spier Mar 15, 2012 9:32 AM (in response to TwitchOSX)Are you trying to install the fonts from original media, or move them from some other location?

8. Re: Font Book in 10.7 is retarded. I need recommendations for a good font manager for OSX
TwitchOSX Mar 15, 2012 9:44 AM (in response to P Spier)I found the font on our G5 and moved it to the Mac Pro and tried to install. Got the message so I went online and downloaded it from some website and got the same thing. Just double clicking on the font in the finder and the Font Validation window pops up and spews those errors. This is the first font that I've seen the Font Validation window say "Do not use this font". 5 of the previous 6 fonts just gave half errors (yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it) and I was able to force the install and they work just fine. This one however is making the Font Validation window specifically say "Do not install this font". I don't want to try and force it through.
