1. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Feb 17, 2012 6:34 PM (in response to chris.campbell)Hi Chris,
I've done a bit of in-depth into this so I thought I'd share in the hope that it can be rectified.
Current System:
Win 7 Ultimate 64bit
AMD FX 6100+
Asus M5A97 PRO Bios 0902 (latest) (AMD chipset)
16Gb Corsair Vengeance
Onboard sound
Sapphire Tech 7950 OC edition
Microsoft wireless Keyboard
Microsoft Sidewinder Wired Mouse
All the above has most recent drivers.
Previous system (that had no faults)
AMD 64 X2 6400+
Asus M2NSLI DELUXE (latest bios) (Nvidia chipset)
4Gb Adata
Creative XF-i sound
Asus GTX460 Top
Microsoft wireless Keyboard
Microsoft Sidewinder Wired Mouse
All the above has most recent drivers.
Issue:
I've tried IE 32bit, 64bit and Firefox and they all get the same crash.
Crash description:
When I go to a web sight that runs flash; a good example of this that crashes every time. Lotto, instant wins, bingo and choose the auto reveal option. At this point the mouse pointer freezes on the screen, the lights on the mouse are non responsive, the keyboard doesn't work, not even the hub lights for "num lock" etc. If you press the reset button on the pc the screen goes black as if it's reset but there is a faint glow from the hdd led and that's as far as it gets. Only way to get the pc to restart is to hold down the power button till it switches off.
Upon reboot, any web pages that you added to favorites/bookmarks are lost.
There is no crash log and windows event log is clear.
Now, this happens with my current system, we can rule out the graphics card as that is new and the previous card (which also crashed the same, was an nvidia and not ATi). Tonight I created a backup of my drive with Acronis, formatted the drive and installed windows fresh. I had to install bundled motherboard drivers to get internet and usb running. I installed all windows updates and then installed flash. Went to the Lotto web site as above and CRASH!
So where is the problem??
Flash and windows7 64bit?
Flash and motherboards AMD chipset?
Any other info that I've missed out, feel free to ask.
Mark.

chris.campbellFeb 21, 2012 10:50 AM (in response to Gambit740)
Hi Mark,
Thanks for the details. What will really help us would be a crash log, exact URL and a dxdiag system report. If you can gather that information (using just Internet Explorer would be fine) and create a new bug report over at bugbase.adobe.com we can investigate further.
This page has step by step instructions on what to do: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/839/cpsid_83975.html
Thanks,
Chris

3. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
rebelrenegade1 Feb 22, 2012 2:47 PM (in response to chris.campbell)I can personally say the Adobe Flash plugin is constantly crashing on my Firefox browser. It runs fine for a bit and then the browser starts getting sluggish and then I get that dreaded message, Your Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed. I have sent numerous reports and I notice that dozens of other people are having the same issues. I have seen all sorts of people suggest fixes, but none of them are worth a darn. It usually crashes when I am on Facebook cause thats where I spend most of my free time. Any news on any upcoming fixes? Or does anyone at Adobe know what is causing the issue yet? It is getting rather frustrating. lol. I have done virus scans on my system and its clean. My video card is fairly new and I have plenty of RAM and hard drive space and everything else is good. I can run the top end store bought games that require a Pretty good system to run efficiently and it runs pretty fast until I bring the browser up and run Facebook. Any Help would be really appreciated.

12. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 13, 2012 12:05 PM (in response to chris.campbell)I'm updating to say that my issue is fixed now.
Onboard Realtek sound card is junk. I had the up to date drivers from the motherboard manufacturers website and I even installed the drivers from Realtek's own website, to no avail.
I installed my old Asus Xonar DX PCIe x1 sound card in the 2nd PCIe x16 slot (because my graphics card fouls the x1 slot, yes this does work; for me anyway), disabled the Realtek onboard sound in the bios and I don't crash any more. --FIXED--
So I suggest everyone who is having Flash Player problems to try a separate sound card.
Note. Don't just try and disable the onboard sound card in the bios and boot your pc with no sound, it'll still crash.

14. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
AdobeFlash391 Mar 16, 2012 4:59 AM (in response to chris.campbell)Hello,
I have multiple problems with my Flash, but I think I will solve them all in one time after eliminating crashes issue, because they all appeared in same time.
Bug 3139718
Flash Crashes WebBrowser + Blank Full Screen in YouTube + Not working site
MacBook Air A1370 with CPU Intel Core Duo 1,4GHz, 2GB RAM of DDR3 Memory 1067MHz,
MacOS X 10.6.8
Opera Browser 11,61, Compilation 1250
Flash Extension 11.1.102.64 - 11.1 r102
Problem Description:
- Flash Crashes My WebBrowser
My Opera browser crashes (after few seconds) every time after start (in last session I have opened multiple youtube tabs). After I turn off flash extension browser not crashing anymore.
- Blank Full Screen in YouTube
It occurs when switching to full screen in YouTube Videos. Screen is more black than if I completely turned off the brightness (probably it's black screen + removed brightness - problem affects graphic driver here).
- Not working site https://wta.xtb.com/BlazeServer/WebTraderFlexClient/WebTraderFlexClient.html I see only white screen.
Steps to Reproduce:
I tried to reinstall Flash. I checked in two browsers: Opera 11.61 and FireFox. In FireFox I didn't had crashes - probably because I have installed FlashBlock Extension there.
Actual Result: Same like in "Problem Description".
Expected Result:
- Browser shouldn't crashing,
- no blank screen in Full Screen mode on YouTube Videos,
- Site Should work properly
Any Workarounds: None.
Best Regards

15. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
disseai Mar 16, 2012 3:55 PM (in response to chris.campbell)Flash player crashes AFTER viewing several videos on youtube with hardware acceleration on and will keep on crashing. Can't watch any more videos while hardware acceleration is on untill i reboot the computer / install new display driver / install new version of flash player / disable hardware acceleration.
Please tell me what to do to clear "the cache or corrupted memeory or whatever" that causes the crashes without needing to reinstall stuff or reboot.
Oh please do contact AMD and Mozilla and colaborate on this hardware acceleration thing cause is driveing me mad and i'm sure i'm not alone; if you google this stuff is going on for more than 2 years now.

16. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
pwillener Mar 16, 2012 8:18 PM (in response to disseai)To clear the cache, use the Flash Player Settings Manager (in Control Panel).
What is your display adapter, driver version & date (see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765).
-
17. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
disseai Mar 17, 2012 1:15 AM (in response to pwillener)Clearing cache that way is not effective, I need to clear the cache or memory used for hardware acceleration. The problem is with hardware acceleration having a memory leak or something like that.
My display adapter is Radeon 4850,
Driver Packaging Version 8.93-111205a-132103C-ATI
Catalyst Version: 12.1
2D Driver Version 6.14.10.7246
Direct3D Version: 6.14.10.0887
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.11399
Catalyst Control Center Version: 2011.1205.2146.38999
in Device manager:
Driver Provider: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Driver Date: 12/5/2011
Driver Version: 8.930.0.0
Must add that I have this problem for over a year ever since version 10 i think, also I installed the latest display driver but as i told you in previous post the problem always gets fixed after a reboot. I'll post again when i duplicate the problem with this one.
-
18. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
pwillener Mar 17, 2012 2:51 AM (in response to disseai)The latest Catalyst driver version is 12.2; try if your system behaves better after that update.

In Firefox. Go to Tools, Add-ons, Plugins.
And make sure the the button on the far right of Shockwave Flash says Disable.

20. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
AdobeFlash391 Mar 20, 2012 3:05 AM (in response to disseai)Yea, that is what I discovered in my old PC.
I really don't think so that this hardware should be allowed for end customers.
That's why I bought Mac computer I can be sure here is evrything is fine by hardware site.
AFTER I REBOOTED MY MAC EVRYTHING IS WORKING. (I didn't restart my Mac since year ago).
It never happened on my other Mac with more powerful CPU and 4GB of RAM.
This one is really slow and it cause this problem.

nyccine Mar 20, 2012 7:09 PM (in response to chris.campbell)I reported this under http://forums.adobe.com/thread/976484?tstart=0 already, but here's my info:
Flash stutters repeatedly, in both IE9, Firefox, Google Chrome, and RealPlayer; only Firefox actually reports as a crash - IE and Chrome simply lag out and go non-responsive.
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1
Processor: i7-950 @ 3.07GHz + 12 GB RAM
Video: nVidia GeForce 580 GTX x2 (SLI), driver version 296.10 (most recent)
Audio: ASUS Xonar DX, also most recent driver

22. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 21, 2012 10:42 AM (in response to nyccine)Hi nyccine,
I have the same sound card and same version of flash as you and I don't have this problem.
Have you tried running your pc non sli to see if it still does this?
I know you've got two cards and therefore want to use two cards, but I'd try it just to see. It could just be that your cards being the 580 and pretty new; the driver manufacturer just hasn't tweaked the driver completly for the 580.

24. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
nyccine Mar 21, 2012 4:10 PM (in response to Gambit740)Flash Player problems didn't start until just about a week ago; if SLI was the problem, I'd already have had this issue since I got the cards last spring.
But I went ahead and did that; no effect, still have the problem.

Malikye Mirage Mar 26, 2012 12:50 AM (in response to chris.campbell)Hey Chris, I'm having a similar problem as Gambit was having with flash. My screen locks up, no lights on mouse, keyboard nada. So then I have to hit the reset
button (mine does work unlike Gambit's did), but I am unable to obtain a crash report. When I go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\Pending there is no pending folder...the only thing I've found is this (InstallTime20120215223356). I don't think

I'm currently at my wits end here....I've read through several reports on here & have tried uninstalling and re-installing ...I have active x version 11.1.102.55 & Plug in version 11.1.102.63
The sites the normaly occurs on is typicaly any flash game period...Have yet to try it on any videos as of yet . yes I've disabled hardware acceleration. all drivers are up to date...aside from MB bios.....I've already sunk a grand into this comp and I don't want to have to pay even more money on a possibble fix as in the sound card as with what Gambit said was the fix for him/her. If I had a spare I would try it but I don't.

30. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 26, 2012 4:48 PM (in response to nyccine)Are you using an onboard sound card?
I thought I'd mention that first as that was my problem......
If it all worked ok before and since updating only flash player it has now gone to sh**. I'd suggest flash player has a conflict with a driver that was previously compatible... But not any more.
If it worked before and the only thing you have done is update Falsh Player, then without question Flash player is the problem and Flash player needs to try and recreate the failure.

32. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
nyccine Mar 26, 2012 8:53 PM (in response to Gambit740)No, I'm using an Asus Xonar D2.
I saw someone mention checking their addons in administrator mode; well, I didn't even need to do that, just launching browsers as admin works. I have no idea why, since the add-ons were already enabled, and my login is as the administrator.
This *is* a bit of a pain, because even though I can force browsers to launch as admin automatically, actual .swf files force me to launch a player (such as RealPlayer) as admin, then use the player to go to the directory where the files are, and open them that way; auto-running from the file doesn't work because Windows doesn't have the option to auto-run a file, just a program.

Gajananam Mar 27, 2012 9:04 AM (in response to Gambit740)Daer Gambit: I want to try yuor solution, as my flash player constantly crashes. I have a windows 7 SP1 home premium on a HP Pavilion and I can disable onboard sound card, but how do I install a new sound card? My system seems to have a second sound card "ATI high definition audio" but it says it is not plugged in? How do I install it? I have no way of going into BIOS at all in my system. Is there a specail key I should try while booting? I have tried "DEL" and "TAB" with no luck.

34. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 27, 2012 10:15 AM (in response to Gajananam)Hi Gajananam,
Firstly. To get into bios with most computers, you press the Delete key shortly after you pressed the power button to start the computer and normally when you see a full screen logo or bios data screen. (before windows logo appears).
As you have a HP it could be anyone of the 'F' keys along the top.
I just read on a HP forum that it's F10 when the screen is blank. So press the power on and keep tapping F10
ATI high definition audio. This is not a seperate sound card, it most likely refers to the speaker/headphone port on the front of the pc tower or a digital optical on the back. In short, it's a plug-in socket and wont work as a fix.
To install a sound card. Firstly you need to go buy one... Just cheked an online store and these range from £6 to £350 The one I have is around the £50 and that's a 24 bit 7.1 So no need to go mad.
But before you go out and buy one we need to know if it will fit in your pc, for this we need to know what model of HP Pavilion it is, so we can find the motherboard spec.
Hope that helps.
Mark.

35. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 27, 2012 10:46 AM (in response to Malikye Mirage)Hi Malikye,
I'm afraid I didn't try another sound card, the Asus DX I already had so I didn't go shopping. But, I don't for one minute believe that it was a case of Asus plugging into Asus that fixed it. I expect if your problem is the same as mine, that any decent make (like Creative as you mentioned) will do the trick.
"Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty"
In order to buy that card you'd have to be one of 3 things...
1. Bill Gates
2. Bonkers
3. ..................... Ok I can't think of a third reason.
Not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with the card, but it's overkill. As you can see in post 2 by me, I'm a high(ish) end gamer. And I wouldn't buy that card! I imagine it's more for the really serious music enthusiast. (Oop, that'll be reason 3... with a bit of reason 2. :-D
Here you go, this is my sound card. http://uk.asus.com/Multimedia/Audio_Cards/Xonar_DX/#specifications roughly £50
If you get something with a similar output you should be fine... Doesn't have to be Asus. I've had Creative in the past and they've been just as good.
Just make sure you get a card with a compatible BUS (port).
Hope that helps.
Mark.

36. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 27, 2012 11:06 AM (in response to nyccine)Hi nyccine,
As you get video stutter I suspect that the issue is graphic to flash problem. Have you tried turning off hardware acceleration in Flash?
To do this, go to youtube play a vid, whilst the vid is playing right click on the vid, choose settings and untick the "use hardware acceleration" box.
If that doesn't work I'd still try the idea of trying it non SLI... Just to rule it out. Of course if it does fix it you can go to the options below and skip the line below this one.
I know you didn't have the problem before, but an update to flash player could have just been enough. and if that is the case...
Your options are.
1. Wait for an Nvidia driver update for your 580's
2. Try and uninstalling the graphics driver and the flash and installing them in different orders (flash then graphics driver or vise versa)
3. Run with one 580 (non SLI) (Yeah, like that's ever going to happen!)
4. Roll back to the previous version of Flash (this will mean that some sights don't work right)
Hope that helps.
Mark.

37. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gajananam Mar 27, 2012 2:10 PM (in response to Gambit740)Dear Mark: Thanks for helping me get into the bios mode (will try it tonight at home, but I am pretty sure it will work, as I was pressing DEL and TAB after the windows logo appeared). From your description, the ATI high def card is not a replacement for the realtek. I have a HPE 180t desktop model. I can live with a cheap sound card. Is it fairly easy to install a new one, once I get into the bios mode? Obviously, one needs to open up the computer to get into the motherboard.

38. Re: Is Flash Player crashing on your computer?
Gambit740 Mar 27, 2012 2:52 PM (in response to Gajananam)Hi Gajananam,
HPE 180t desktop.
So this is your pc? http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c01976263&lang=en&c c=us&taskId=101&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=4079700&prodTypeId=12454#A0
This should your Motherboard. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en&docname=c01901210
Sound options for you pc according to HP are...
Sound Must select one of the following options:
Integrated 7.1 Sound (7.1 capable sound with front audio ports)
SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme
SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer
I'm guessing you have the first one?
From your pc spec you'd be best going for a PCI-Express x1 card. As there is no guarantee this is going to fix your problem and I don't know if your symptoms are the same as mine I'd try a cheap card.
Here are all the pci-e x1 cards on this site. http://www.dabs.com/category/components-and-storage,graphics--tv-tuners-and-i-o,sound/1114 0-4294944981
You don't have to buy it from there of course, it's just to give you an idea.
manual for your pc. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02067973.pdf (page 28 for adding a card)
Before you do any of this. Try upgrading your drivers. graphics, sound, motherboard chipset...etc.
