JSS1138 Mar 7, 2012 9:47 PM (in response to Saad Khan)I won't say this is the cause, but you have a mismatch between the media (1440 x 1080) and your sequence (1920 x 1080). That should probably be corrected.
What is your Playback Resolution set for?

2. Re: picture pixelated during transition CS5.5
Saad Khan Mar 8, 2012 3:47 AM (in response to JSS1138)Hi
my playback resolution is set for half, but my paused resolution is set for full. Even after exporting the clip, I saw the same pixelation in the transitions.
in one of the previous posts, someone said that 1440 x 1080 footage would fit nicely into a 1920 x 1080 sequence.

3. Re: picture pixelated during transition CS5.5
Ann Bens Mar 8, 2012 6:48 AM (in response to Saad Khan)1440 does fit nicely into 1920x1080 when having mixed footage.
If one has only HDV footage this should have a hdv preset.
Set playback to full.

Ahhh, something like that should always be mentioned in the original post.
Run a test using the correct Adobe supplied AVCHD sequence. Report back.

Saad Khan Mar 9, 2012 4:12 PM (in response to JSS1138)Hi Jim and Ann. I did a test on a normal Adobe timeline and the results were similar, however when I took a screenshot from the premiere timeline of the same exported clip the result was this...
WHen I took a screenshot from a blackmagic timeline the result was this..
there seems to be more pixelation in the blackmagic timeline than there is in the Premiere timeline when taking a screenshot of the same mpeg clip. Strange isn't it?
here are my export and sequence settings...
I did two different export setttings both which had the same result.

JSS1138 Mar 9, 2012 9:26 PM (in response to Saad Khan)I'm actually not seeing anything wrong with the PP native sequence.

medeamajic Mar 9, 2012 10:50 PM (in response to JSS1138)I think that is his point. He has narrowed it down to be the fault of the Black Magic project settings.

9. Re: picture pixelated during transition CS5.5
Saad Khan Mar 10, 2012 6:16 AM (in response to Saad Khan)Thanks guys. Actually I'm not sure what it is. However, the pixelation is visible in both exports. So I don't see it on the timeline, only after export.

10. Re: picture pixelated during transition CS5.5
Ann Bens Mar 10, 2012 6:55 AM (in response to Saad Khan)No need for frame blending.
Source is 25 fps so is export.
Try with default settings for VBR 2 pass.

Ann Bens Mar 11, 2012 7:07 AM (in response to Saad Khan)Try a preset first before tweaking all kinds of parameters, unless you know what you are doing.
Set encoder quality to 4.
Your bitrate is not set to default.
2,8 - 5 - 7, try that.
Uncheck Render at Max bit depth.
Max bitdepth and render quality is only for preview in the sequence settings, might as well uncheck.

Powered by Design Mar 11, 2012 8:21 AM (in response to Saad Khan)Can you upload a short sample of the footage so we can test to see if we get the same results ?
This way we can see if it has anthing to do with your computer or just settings.

Saad Khan Mar 15, 2012 7:00 AM (in response to Saad Khan)Hi Glenn, Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I've had the flu! I want to upload this video and want to know to make a smaller size, would I just tick the 'match sequence settings box' to give you the same file I'm working with. If not, how else will I give you a shorter clip of what I'm using. The clip I'm using is 1 hour long and around 11GB big.

18. Re: picture pixelated during transition CS5.5
Powered by Design Mar 15, 2012 2:39 PM (in response to Saad Khan)Just take your camera and use the same settings you shot with before and take some test shots. See if it is still there or if it is just with the footage you have.
As a test create some color mattes and test the transitions to see if it has nothing to do with the footage and maybe its your sytem.

Saad Khan Mar 16, 2012 6:07 AM (in response to Powered by Design)hi GLenn,
I checked a smaller piece of footage and came up with the same results. I also tested on another computer and also came up with the same results.

Powered by Design Mar 16, 2012 11:55 PM (in response to Saad Khan)I tested the footage and it looks good on my system.
I recorded a Screenr if you want to watch.
The video played a little slow on their site but was smooth on my system.
Here is a screen grab from Premiere.

Saad Khan Mar 17, 2012 9:03 PM (in response to Saad Khan)Hi GLenn,
I know I definitely tried with those settings that you have above. I thought it would be easier if I included a link to this thread in another discussion so you could see my computer specs. Is that ok?

The funny thing though is that I get the same result on another computer.

Powered by Design Mar 17, 2012 11:05 PM (in response to Saad Khan)After reading your other post I see you have a nice system.
To bad your builder wasnt Eric from ADK
I see Harm said to check your temps under normal and load. Speccy works good to see those temps.
I also fear that PSU is to small for your setup.
Have you gone to Nvidia and gotten the latest drivers for your Quadro 4000 ?
Show a screen grab of the temps with Speccy before and while rendering please.

Saad Khan Mar 19, 2012 7:19 PM (in response to Powered by Design)Hi GLenn,
I just ordered the new RAM I needed and will get those screen grabs to you as soon as possible. I have downloaded the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website and am still getting the same results from the exports. Would you have any other suggestions?

Powered by Design Mar 19, 2012 7:25 PM (in response to Saad Khan)At this time I dont know what else might be giving you problems.
At least if it was doing the same thing on my system then we would know it was repeatable.
Since im getting good results I fear its something to do with your system.
Maybe those tests will tell if you system is getting to hot.
Mabye some with a better hardware understanding can chime in.
