It seems to be teh file association issue ,
CAn you check what is the default aplication selected for the indd, psd and the pdf file on your computer?
Also please specify the version of the Indesign , acrobat and the windows you are on?
The file associations are fine (indd files are associated to Indesign, psd files to Photoshop and so on).
The reason why I am writing is that it works, but now always. I can double click files in the Windows explorer or Totalcommander and they open. Rarely they don't. And they never open from Bridge which is the weirdest thing for me. I can't open basically anything through Bridge. I was not able to pinpoint what exactly gets the files to not open and this has been a problem for some time now.
The system I use is a 64 bit Windows 7 professional with 8 GB of RAM. The Photoshop is the 64 bit version.
I am using the CS5 versions of the programs and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. All programs are up to date.
Check the file association in the Brdige,
Go to Edit>Preferences>file association in the bridge and check the file association there for the indesin and the psd file.
I checked it. The file associations are correct.
Check after reseting the preferences of the bridge ,
Also check in the new user account does it work for you
- Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appear or press the Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) and then luanch bridge.
- Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK
Thank you, this indeed solved the issue with Bridge. Hopefully this also solves the issue with opening stuff from file managers.
