Are you using a network folder or a web server folder? Do all participants have r/w access to this location? Are you able to successfully run the other Shared Review Review distribution options (i.e., email and Acrobat.com)?
I am using a web server folder.

I can send email and use Acrobat.com
I can open a web browser and type in the web address for the web server folder. I am presented with a dialog requesting username and password. I key those in and then the default.htm displays in the browser. I can do this from both inside and outside our domain. That suggests that the IIS setup is correct.
If I try a shared review within Acrobat, after I have keyed in an email address for a recipient and click send, I am presented with the Remote Service Authentication dialog box. After entering the username and password three different times I see an error message box that says:
Status: The shared folder location you provided is not setup correctly to store comments for this shared review. The problem is: Authorization is required for this network service.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Is anyone else able to initiate a Shared Review to this location?
No, I tried logging in as a different user at a different computer. While on the Send for Shared Review form, if I select the Web Folder configuration previously defined and click Next I immediately get an error message saying, "The file destination provided is not valid." If I elect to recreate the Web Server/Folder configuration and then click next I get an error message saying, "The shared folder location provided is not valid." However, in both instances the Server Location field on the Send for Shared Review form clearly showed the correct http address. And again, if I manually keyin this address in a web browser the default.htm page there displays.
Try using a network sniffer application or proxy application (Charles, Wireshark, or some other application) to grab the network traffic (HTTP, TCP/IP, SOAP, and others). Look for errors like HTTP 404, 405, or 407 in the HTTP. Look for authentication error denied due to bad password or other errors.

WireShark does indicate "invalid credentials" when trying to initiate a review. However, this only happens when I have enabled Digest Authentication in IIS. It appears, from what I am experiencing, that Acrobat Shared Reviews cannot work when Digest Authentication is enabled because it prevents a review from being initiated. If I take Acrobat out of the equation web access to the web server works fine with Digest Authentication enabled. Adobe Tech Support said I need to give the web server permissions to run Acrobat. My IT consultants told me there is no way to do this.

That is a good question. I know that in the past Windows Digest Authentication did not work but I believe that in version 9.x or 10.x that was implemented. Are you including the domain name and username in the logon?
Yes, I have tried that and it makes no difference. Plus, when I am trying to initiate a review the Remote Service Authentication dialog that ask for username and password clearly has my domain name listed in the "Realm" field.
I wonder if you cached your password at some point?
Export this registry key as a backup and then try deleting it.
If it works after deleting then at some point you saved you password.
If not you can always add it back from the exported key that you made.
Good idea. I typically do not save any username and password setups when initially trying to set up something like this. But, since it was a good idea I checked the registry database location you suggested just to be sure. There were no values stored there.
Can you try changing the password of your user account at the server and then try initiating the shared review from Acrobat? Also, please ensure you enter the correct password the first time Acrobat prompts you for the password. You might need to kill AdobeCollabSync.exe from task manager before you do this.
Thank you. At your suggestion, I tried changing my password and again attempted a new shared review, but was unsuccessful experiencing the same error messages.
Did you try killing the process AdobeCollabSync.exe before launching Acrobat and proceeding with the workflow?

At this point in time I cannot change my user password. I created a new user account, killed the ADobeCollabSync.exe process, opened a PDF with Acrobat and tried initiating a shared review. I encountered the exact same problems described above. An Adobe Acrobat Specialist tried something similar to this last week with no success, either.
were you to figure this out? I configured a webdav for the adobe comments, but I get the same message.
I'm also hoping someone has an answer for this! I've initiated reviews, external to the WebDAV server I'm using. My clients are also external to this server. One client has no issues accessing the PDF; another gets hung up on the same "Remote Service Authentication" window that asks for username and password, and this has been duplicated from two different users' computers. I'm suspecting it's a difference in their firewall configuratons, but I'm at a loss to know what to do.
