Using RH9 output to WebHelp Pro
I want to create synonyms so that when a user searches the Help for a certain word, WebHelp will return matches not only for that word but for other words that I have flagged as synomyms of that word.
For example, if a user searches on "proposal", I want the search results to include topics that have the word "tender" or "bid" with or without the exact match on "proposal". It isn't clear how I can make this happen.

Hi there
I'm not 100% sure if this is exactly where you add it so it ends up in WebHelp Pro, but this works for basic WebHelp.
Click File > Project Settings.
Ensure the General tab is in front.
Click the Advanced... button.
Click the Synonyms tab.
Click New and add the Word and the Synonym.
As I said, there may be a different place for the WebHelp Pro type of synonym, but then again, it could simply draw from this place too.
Cheers... Rick

Hi, Last Fudgement
I can attest that Rick's procedure works great in WebHelp Pro!
Sometimes it can be confusing as to which word goes in which column.
So in your example, Proposal would go in the lefthand Word column and tender would go in the righthand Synonym column.

Excellent, thanks. One of the things that isn’t clear is whether this will produce the same result for both index look-ups and full-text searches, but I should be able to test the output and see.

Mike, the Index is a completely different animal. The Full Text Search Engine is a "dumb" software-driven set of code looking for literal words whereas an Index is created and (hopefully) audited by the author to guide the end user to the appropriate topic for that word (which could be jargon or a nickname or whatever the author feels the user would use to look for subject matter found in certain topics.)

I agree with that distinction. However, there is not a lot of clarity around the way the word “indexing” is used in the RoboHelp 9 user assistance material.
Thanks for your assistance.
Cheers,
Mike
