Works on my Macbook 10.6.8 as expected and as in LR 3.x.
What OS are you using?
iMac with the 10.7.3
And it has worked for me also in LR3
Never tried it until today to make a new watermark with png files.
I have only used the presets that where imported from LR3
I would be suspicious of the PNG file since it is newly made. Mind posting it for a test?
Sent you an email via G+
Can send you the files by dropbox or mail
I know you are going to hate me but, it worked here.
Created a new watermark with your BW PNG and saved as a preset. Worked
Modified by increasing the logo size and was able to update the existing preset. Worked.
Go to Export, I am able to select it.
Step me through your Watermark creation carefully and lets see if we can figure it out.
1. Will it save as a new WM Preset?
2. If you modify will it let you Update Existing Preset with Current Settings?
It should then appear in your list in Export, Print, Web???
I end up on save preset.
I type in the name and nothing more happens
I know that I am doing this correct since it worked in LR3
When I tries to save a modified preset it doesn't change it.
I have no idea what could be wrong

In order this is what I would check for (assuming you haven't done these already):
1. Bad Preferences File
2. User Permissions (assuming you have Admin access)
3. Corrupt User Profile
when I do edit existing preset:
When I try to save the changes it comes up with:
There was an error saving this template.
I wonder if my OnOne suite 6 can cause some of the problems?
I just removed LR3, LR4 and the OnOne suite 6
Will restart the system and reinstall just LR4
But first I will recheck the harddrive and the permissions
After checking read & write permission and re-installing LR4 it still is not working!
Getting very frustrated over here since I have tried everything.
I will try and see if this works on my old macbook
I installed LR4.0 on my old macbook and everything works as a dream!
I removed all the presets from LR4 that I've made
But is there a way to clean all traces of LR on my Mac?
When I re-installed all the old presets where present.
I also didn't need to type in the license.
I think that I will need to do a full and completly reset and then re-install LR

After I got it to work on my macbook I did the following:
Created a new user
Started up LR4
Watermarks works great!
I then copied the lightroom folder that was created on the account to the new user.
Folder was found here: Macintosh HD/users/New user created/Library/Application support/Adobe/Lighroom (copied it)
That did not work when I restarted LR
What is missing here?
I am betting on number 3 from my previous post.
I did an error in my previous post.
I put the Lightroom folder in the wrong place.
I had forgotten to show all hidden files.
Then that folder was hidden....
It seems like this can fix a lots of problems.
I had a different problems with LR3.2 and Victoria Bampton told me how to fix it back then.
So I just had to dig up her response about moving the files to the correct place.
The easiest way to fix this is to create a new user. But since I have so much stuff on my main account it will be a pain to start all over again.
Thank you for the push in the correct direction
Glad it worked. Sorry for the work you have ahead of you too!
Well it's always like that when a software that works great suddenly stops doing it job.
But that why it's so great with forums and helpful people like yourself
