For composition widgets, the slides will always be in the order in which they were added. The only way to reorder them is to delete slides and add them in the correct order. It is much easier with lightbox slideshows, as you can just rearrange the thumbnails as you wish and the slides will also rearrange. Unfortunately you won't be able to add text to the triggers of a lightbox slideshow, though.
Your answer is very helpful. Thanks! I see this topic was posted back in 2012. Do you happen to know if Adobe has improved this experience since then by allowing thumbnails/images to reorder in the way the lightbox widgets allows?
I'm updating my site, and would like to easily add the latest images at the beginning of my slideshow, as opposed to the last positions.
Thanks for your help,

I'd say it has "slightly improved." You can actually change the order by rearranging the "Target" elements of the widget's Container in the Layers panel.
You, sir, are a rock star!
I played with the "Layers" panel and it worked just as you said it would! I will say, though, that I had success by rearranging the "trigger" elements as opposed to the "target" elements. While in the "Layers" panel, I just opened up the layer that showed all the targets and triggers, moved those trigger elements into the order I needed (bottom is the first position) and then repositioned the thumbnails accordingly in the layout. BOOM. DONE!
HUGE THANKS to you, Colby!
