I am recieving an exit code: 7 upon trying to install a trial version of Illustrator CS5.

Do a web search. These errors are covered en detail on the knowledge base and there are many threads even on the Adobe forums providing valuable tips and hints. Just pointing the install log without providing some system info is rather pointless, anyway.

Justinfinite I would recommend reviewing Troubleshoot CS5 and CS5.5 installation with install logs.  This document will give you guidence on how to review your install log and locate the particular error message which is causing you difficulty.

I don't know, if it's still relevant. I had the same problem. After days or weeks trying I installed WindowsServer. At the same time I downgraded to an older sevicepack. Then I could install it. I thought it has been the WindowsServer. I didn't install it, when I was installing the Internet Explorer. so here you can download it. It's in the IE-package:

Step 1: Follow the below article :

Step 2: Download and install the latest C++ Redistributable pack relevent for your machine:

Step 3: Insert CS5 disc and copy its contents to the desktop.

Step 4: Go To “Desktop\<<CS5 Folder Name>>\payloads\” and then Go To each folder that starts from “Microsoft_VC80” and install them one by one.

Step 5: Right click on the setup.exe and "Run as Administrator"
