Thanks for the response.
I saw these discussions previously, but not of them seem to answer my question (nor confirm that what I am trying to do cannot be done).
If I want to create a "Wedding Album" book, do I have to firstly use the Library module to drag ALL the photos I may want to use into my "Wedding Album" collection (saved book) ?
This seems annoying as I have already categorisied my 1000+ wedding photos into separate Collections using the Library (so that I can find the one I want easier).
It seems as though the Book module would function much better if you could create a book, choose a page that you want to add a photo to, then browse through your pre-configured collection sets & collections, and add photos to the book from the navigation panel on the left when you have the "Book" module open. (Rather than having to copy the photo first into the "Book" 's Collection, then adding it to the page that you want)
I am having exactly the same issue - seems incredible that you can't make subfolders within the book collection.
The only work around I have found (and it's very clunky) is to go to the subfolder I want to work with in the library module, select all and flag all. I can then go to the book module and filter to show only flagged photos and filter according to rating to get to the photos I want easily. When I am finished with each section I go back to the library module, unflag all and start the process again. I never use the flags for anything else - if I did this would be a problem of course.
Does anybody know if this problem has been solved in LR5?
I was working on a book and was pretty far along and then figured it would be a good idea to save the book. Seemed unnerving to see that "Unsaved Book" in the corner. Now I want to add more photos from different collections and to do that I have to:
1. Leave the Book mode, go to Library mode
2. Move the pictures into the Book collection
3. Go back to Book Mode
4. Find the newly added pictures and add them to the book.
Yeah, unbelieavable Adobe did not offer such an obviously useful feature !!!
I'm using LR 4 too.
I think I've found a way around :
- Go to your library and drag-drop the file to your book in collection.
- Go to book and down the window you can display the contact sheet-like content.
- From there you'll find at far end the lastest files added. You just have to drag and drop it in your layout.
Big advantage here is: I can replace all RAW files I started with, with my corrected TIFs. No need to make a new book.
