I'm very well aware of geocoding photos; but as you may be aware, you can add the location of the photo shoot in the XMP (and IPTC) headers in an image in clear text. I usually update this metadata for a photo shoot. LR does display this metadata when available, Being a software engineer, I thought it was a logical step to add the XMP location data as a default map search data when available if a photo doesn't have the GPS data added, sort of like adding intelligence to the Map functionality . :-)
