Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing
If you have a red line over the timeline after importing a video and before adding any effects... your project is wrong for your video... read above about codecs
Once you know exactly what it is you are editing, report back with that information... and your project setting, and if there is a red line above the video in the timeline, which indicates a mismatch between video and project

Try a XDCAM EX preset that matches your footage.
For export use one of the presets found under H.264.

I think the settings are now good, because in the preview in the program the video looks fine.
I think now the issue is in the export, because it stills look bad. Even using the presets of H.264 and just changing the widht and height.
Here is a screenshot of the setting using a program that John suggested. And one of the settings. Hope you can help me with the export, I thinks this are the proper settings...
