1. Re: how to extract all images from an animated gif?
groove25 Apr 21, 2012 12:00 AM (in response to onefiftymph)Have you tried opening the GIF in Fireworks?
I downloaded the following GIF from an online tutorial by Cory Thoman (about creating animated GIFs in ImageReady). When I opened it in Fireworks 8, I found that it consisted of four frames, each with two layers—one for the background, and one for the moving eyes. To extract the images in this GIF, I'd simply select each frame, one at a time, and choose File > Image Preview. More recent versions of Fireworks have a States panel instead of a Frames panel, but the idea is the same: Select each state one at a time, and export it using Image Preview (or any other method you prefer).
TIP: To see the animated GIF in action, click on the octopus.

3. Re: how to extract all images from an animated gif?
groove25 Apr 21, 2012 1:21 AM (in response to onefiftymph)How about opening the GIF and choosing File > Export... then in the Export dialog choose the "Frames to Files" option. This works in Fireworks 8; in newer versions, it's called "States to Files".
