Hello.

I have a client's Mac OS X 10.5.8 with all the latest updates. His Flash Player plugin v10.3.183.18 does not show up in his old Safari v5.0.6. It works fine in old Firefox v3.6.28 though. And yes, I redownloaded and reinstalled Flash Player plugin. What's wrong?

Thank you in advance.

JS option was already enabled. I also noticed Safari's extension list was empty. I assume Flash should be in here to work. Weird that my install did not show any errors. Maybe it only installed for Firefox v3.6.28 and not Safari? I assume Flash v10.3 will still work for Safari.

It was already enabled. Where does Flash player plugin v10.3 files get installed for Safari?

Installed plug-ins are displayed in Safari's Help > Installed Plug-ins page.

You can locate them in the Library > Installed Plug-ins folder.

Thanks,

Sunil

Safari's Help > Installed Plug-ins page was blank.

I don't see an "Installed Plug-ins" folder in Library. Hmm, weird. Does Mac OS X 10.5.8 have this by default?

Ideally the Installed Plug-in page should display the plug-ins.

There was a mistake in the folder name that I mentioned. It's Library > Internet Plug-ins.

I see it in Mac 10.6.

Thanks,

Sunil

I see a "Flash Player.plugin" file in there installed from last night so it did install. Now, why is it not working in Safari? I also did not see a Flash Player plugin in its disabled plugins folder so it is not disabled. Weird.

Also, that was in the root's Library. Local home's Library was empty.

Updates since I had more free time on a CATurday. I found a Flash uninstaller from Adobe's KB web site so I downloaded it, ran it, tested to see if Firefox said no Flash (confirmed), and then reinstalled Flash but it did not fix Safari's plug-in problem. I also noticed this in Mac OS X 10.5.8's console log during installation to launching Safari:

Note the last few lines. I wonder if those are causing Flash plugin not to show up in Safari.

Wow, this is crazy. I figured out what happened. Disabling Java plugins in Mac OS X 10.5.8's Utilities' Java Preferences will remove ALL plug-ins in Safari. Why? I DON'T KNOW! [gets slimed] I don't know if this is a glitch on this old specific MacBook Pro (15"; 2008) or an actual bug on all Mac OS X 10.5.8 machines. It would be nice if someone else, with this OS version, to try it and see if it happens there. Also, root's Library for Internet Plugins don't change between Java Preferences' plugins toggles.
