1. Re: Changed jpegs in camera raw but not changed.
Jeff Schewe Apr 24, 2012 10:35 PM (in response to kevin4545)Uh huh...when you open the images in Camera Raw and saved the adjustments, all you saved was Camera Raw metadata (which Preview can't parse). If you want the JPEG images to reflect the parametric adjustments, yes, you must actually process the files and bake those adjustments into the file.

kevin4545 Apr 25, 2012 12:23 PM (in response to Jeff Schewe)And so I must use image processor, just as I do with Raws, when I want to make psd or tiffs. thanks Jeff.....I wonder does that degrades the jpeg if I start with a jpeg, change look in ACR and then use image processor to make 10 quality jpegs?

Yes, it does. Every time you save or re-save and close a JPEG, it gets degraded.

kevin4545 Apr 25, 2012 4:20 PM (in response to station_one)Thanks, just compared and it does not seem noticible the degrdation from the one pass through image processor

Noel Carboni Apr 25, 2012 6:42 PM (in response to kevin4545)1 person found this helpfulIf you must start with a JPEG, make changes, and save a JPEG there's no getting around compressing the image data twice.
Most folks can't see a difference when it's done once, but the degradation, especially around sharp bright/dark edges, will add up if done over and over.
