Cannon read epub book on desktop

I bought an epub book on the apple store and can read it fine on IPAD, but not desktop. I just get a white page. My desktop is authorized. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ADE. Any ideas? Thanks.

Reinstalling ADE is not the answer.

You haven't told us whether the 'desktop' is a PC or a MAC - and that makes

a difference. Ebooks that come from the Apple store are encoded

differently and that may cause the white page you're seeing.

As a general rule, Steve Jobs developed products that don't work the same

way as those from Intel and Bill Gates. If you bought an .epub ebook from

the Apple store, then Apple encoded it to work with its devices. When you

transfer that ebook to a Windows platform, the encoding might (probably

won't) be the same and you may have issues. That's what I suspect is

happening here. The general info about the ebook is almost the same

between Apple and Windows, so you'll see the ebook listed in ADE's

library. However, I think ADE/Windows is having a hard time opening it

because of some internal differences.

Can you find the same ebook (for free) on a Windows site?

Sounds like I'm out of luck then. It's a $20 book and not likely to be available free on a Win platform. Thanks for your help.
