1. Re: Can't view Nikon D4 files in Bridge
Omke Oudeman Apr 25, 2012 2:24 PM (in response to robirdman1)I first found that I couldn't view these in the Bridge I had with CS4 Photopshop.
It's an old discussion that sadly enough will going on. Almost every camera vendor creates a new Raw code for each new version the create.
Adobe tries to update the new cameras as quick as possible. A few years back this meant once in 3 months an update and they should have test files from the new camera's. Nowadays there is more cooperation between Adobe and vendors so they get test files in an earlier stage.
The updates for ACR are for free as is Bridge (kind of, it comes with other suite applications) however Adobe needs also earn its money like any commercial business does
So they give free updates but only for their latest edition of PS. There is already an update for CS5 but that is a release candidate (Beta) version 6.7 on Adobe Labs (it has an expire date though).
However this is not going to work with your CS4 version and not sure but don't think you can fool Bridge CS5 but you can try.
There are 2 other workarounds you can choose.
download the CS6 beta from Adobe Labs (also expiring date):
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/photoshopcs6.html
Or on the same Adobe Labs download the release candidate for the DNG converter and ACR converter that supports the new Nikon D4:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/cameraraw6-7.html
The DNG converter will be free when final released and you can use the DNG files in your CS4 ACR. However the new ACR controls for CS5 and CS6 will not be available for you, that is the privilege of the users of the respective versions
You can also find the path for your current ACR file in CS4 (on a Mac that is in Root library) and create a similar folder for CS5 and place the 6.7 ACR plug in in there to see if you can open ACR through Bridge CS5 from premiere (use right mouse click Open in Camera Raw)
Shall I give you my bank account number for a free donation less then 40 bucks...

2. Re: Can't view Nikon D4 files in Bridge
robirdman1 Apr 27, 2012 10:53 AM (in response to Omke Oudeman)I went to the site and downloaded the CameraRaw6-7 file. When I clicked the zip, payloads and AdobePatchInstaller.exe came up. I clicked the latter and when I OK'd to run it, I only got "error loading Updater workflow" and the only option to quit. I don't know what else to do.

If you have unzipped the file the plugin it self probably is also on your system and you can place it manual in the correct place.
As a Mac User I' don't have the Windows Path, maybe Curt can provide it to you.

4. Re: Can't view Nikon D4 files in Bridge
Curt Y Apr 27, 2012 11:13 AM (in response to Omke Oudeman)ACR must be in Program Files/COMMON Files/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS4/File Formats which gives you Camera Raw.8bi. There is no reference to version
You can only have one file here, so either delete old one or disable it with a charater in front of it so system does not recognize it as file.

Curt Y Apr 27, 2012 11:27 AM (in response to robirdman1)Reread post #2. You can not use ACR 6.x on CS4. Need to have CS5 for that.
You either have to upgrade or download and use the free DNG converter.

6. Re: Can't view Nikon D4 files in Bridge
robirdman1 Apr 27, 2012 11:50 AM (in response to Curt Y)I don't see a file name "camera raw.8 bi " in the unzipped folder, to replace the current one, only AdobeCameraRawProfil6...(with a lot more digits after)
I have Bridge 5 with Premiere Pro but that doesn't show the RAW files either.
