The message I get is:
Lightroom was unable to back up the catalog named “Son_Images-LR4”.
Please check your folder permissions, and make sure that you have available space on your backup drive and main catalog's drive.
Try Again - Quit - Choose different backup folder...
I have tried to choose different backup folder locations on local hard disk, to no avail, so I end up quitting without doing the backup.
So did you check your folder permissions? Did you check available space on the backup drive? Did you check available space on the main catalog's drive?
Same here. Since update from LR 4.1 RC1 to RC2 backup doesn't work. This is not related to folder permissions. Nothing has changed in between. It does not work on a remote share, nor does it work on the local drive - looks like totaly broken. Btw. I'm using OS X Lion.
I do not know how/what to check file permissions, space on hard drive is not an issue, and I did try to back up on different hard drives with more space without success.
As mentioned, the backup was working ok until a few weeks ago and I do not recall changing anything in the meantime.
Apparently, I have now read three people complaining about this exact problem. You should file a bug report.
Can you pls direct to the place where I can file a bug report, by giving me the url?

The link is right there on the main page of the Forum, it says Feature Request/Bug Reporting
Thank you, upon submitting the bug, I came across the following topic:
It seemed it's a same issue as the one I encountered, and would be fixed with 4.1 public RC2.
I downloaded 4.1 RC2 and tried again, same error message, I will post a bug report
