medeamajic Apr 29, 2012 9:13 AM (in response to ksemple)It is kind of stupid to use a switcher for a concert if you only have two cameras. Having said that did the camera operators have headsets or did the two camera operators just go willy nilly for this event? Ideally one camera should have remained still as a cover shot while the other focused on the action. You should just try and use the mobile camera when you can and the the cover shot camera only when needed. More info on how things were done might help you get the best answers to your problems.

John T Smith Apr 29, 2012 10:06 AM (in response to ksemple)>recorded a concert live with two different cameras with a switcher, without any tapes in the cameras
Does that mean you were using OnLocation to record direct to a hard drive?
And, just what kind of "mistakes' are you talking about?

ksemple Apr 29, 2012 1:21 PM (in response to John T Smith)It was actually four cameras my bad.
I could have previewed the shots before I switched over, there wasn't any communication, well at least our plan to communicated did not work. So after that failed i stuck with the main shot as a wide angle of the stage and switched over to the stage camera when I thought he had a good shot. But there were some instances when I took shot and he wasn't ready, so I had to go back out to the main camera fast, so those are the mistakes am talking about, majority of the show was recorded with the main camera.
I was using premiere pro to record straight to a hard drive.

Jamaine

OK... simply cut those sections out, use your choice of transistion to cover the missing frames

That's why multicamera editing is best done in post rather than live.
Lesson learned for next time, eh?

able123 Apr 29, 2012 6:46 PM (in response to ksemple)sounds like you will have some fun getting creative...putting stuff in the spots where you got screwed on shots...
can try using slow motion of portion just before a bad spot...slow down visual a lot, might look cool in one or 2 cases....cant use the same thing over and over or it will get campy...dumb looking.
got shots of audience ??? stick one of THEM in there ....
not so much 'transition' stuff to fill in the bad spots, but some sorta other shots or manipulation ( like slow mo etc )...might get you some mileage.
good luck...

davidbeisner2010 May 1, 2012 8:31 AM (in response to ksemple)Yeah, and depending on what kind of concert it is, you could also experiment with other b-roll type of stuff, or text slides with lyrics, etc...

able123 May 1, 2012 11:05 AM (in response to davidbeisner2010)yeah, and not only THAT ....
but you could shoot NEW stuff to thread through the thing ....use in those bad spots...
like, " willie the weasel goes to the concert " footage......you show willie getting ready for concert ( looking at his watch like he's gonna be late )...
then he travels to concert, but its starting already ( your normal footage starts )...
so we see poor willie getting held up at bus station, waiting for train maybe, running across streets to catch cab etc etc....intercut with your normal footage....
and finally he gets to the concert and sits down....and your normal stuff finishes to rousing applause ( music swells ).

Wow! I missed a thread with a weasel in it? Cannot believe that. I love weasels! Heck, I still play my Weasels Ripped My Flesh album (you remember those, don't you?).
I also Like Monkeys too!
