Error message application currently in use

I can't install the latest flash player version - keep getting an error message saying the application is currently in use

I have Windows Vista x32

Internet explorer 8

Download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#Install_in_a_...

then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.

Note that you must also close any messenger applications, and other apps that use Flash (e.g. Skype) before running the installer.
