The URL Scheme option is available only for subscription viewers. Are you creating a subscription viewer?
Aha! Yes, now I see that. Thanks a lot!
No, we are a design agency, making apps for our clients containing free content - corporate information etc. Due to this, we haven't bothered learning about or testing subscriptions; retail content etc, yet. But it seems it is possible to publish this as a free subscription. I just hope the user do not have to 'subscribe' but can pick and choose what to download. (It would be a bit bizarre to treat a mix of brochures, reports etc as a subscription) :-)
Is there a spacial reason that the URL scheme option was taken away from ordinary Multi-issue viewers? It was there in earlier version. I'll explain our situation:
Our client want to publish corporate information; annual reports etc, with DPS. Not really magazines or newspapers you subscribe to.
We are making another app where they publish news articles, videos etc. In that app, we want to have a link which opens the viewer with their publications.
Any chance that this option will come back in v19?
URL Scheme wasn't taken away from ordinary multi-issue viewers. It has only been available for subscription apps. I'm still looking into why it's not available for all apps.
Bummer. In earlier versions of Viewer builder, the box for entering a URL scheme appeared also for 'ordinary' multi-issue apps. But I suppose it didn't work, then. I discussed this with Klaasjan Tucker in the following thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4057891#4057891
Unfortunately, I never had the time to try it out.
Double bummer, it seems free subscriptions have to go into Newsstand, and we want to keep out of it. I'll post a separate question.
Working as new feature in v20!
Thank you thank you thank you, Bob - and all the others at the DPS team at Adobe.
