Please make a screen grab showing your entire Photoshop setup when you're about to make the attempted changes and post it here in the forum using the little "camera" icon above the edit area. Folks familiar with the tools will likely spot the settings or environment issues with your document that are responsible for the problems.

Noel Carboni May 8, 2012 4:08 AM (in response to deedeecz)OK, thanks, that's easier to see now. The image is partially transparent, because you've loaded it from a PNG file - likely a web graphic.
Your most direct approach may be to separate the transparency from the pixels by using the Layer Mask from Transparency function. Then you'll be able to manipulate the pixels without affecting the partial transparency.
