1. Re: Encore CS5 Crashes at Startup on MacPro
Stan Jones May 8, 2012 8:59 AM (in response to invisiblearts)Crash reports mean nothing to most of us. Generally best to provide them only when requested (and offline).
Look at this:
Troubleshoot system errors and freezes | Adobe software on Mac OS 10.x

invisiblearts May 8, 2012 9:03 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Sorry about that, I had looked around in other discussions and saw other people mention that they couldn't advise without seeing a crash report. So I attached it. I'll look into the link you posted. Thanks.

No problem, it's just that a long crash report makes the thread unreadable for most everyone else. If a crash report is requested, please handle that by PM. Thanks.

invisiblearts May 8, 2012 9:12 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune)Is there a way I can edit my post to remove that report? That way I can make it a little less cluttered for everyone.
Oh, wait, it looks like someone took care of that for me.

Stan Jones May 8, 2012 9:19 AM (in response to invisiblearts)Yep; that's our friendly mod Jeff making things neat.
Edit: You can edit a post until someone responds, then you can't. But the moderators can.

Well, I've tried all of these steps except for repairing my disk permissions. My startup drive is actually two drives setup as a striped RAID. Disk utility doesn't seem to want to let me alter the permissions of the RAID setup.

Stan Jones May 8, 2012 9:31 AM (in response to invisiblearts)Permissions is one of the issues that can cause problems, but usually after Encore is running. Not a mac person, and major crashes like this on PCs often adds up to a reinstall.

invisiblearts May 9, 2012 9:38 AM (in response to Stan Jones)Ugh, curses! I just don't know. I've tried everything, even just uninstalled and reinstalled again. It just keeps crashing on startup. Is this a known issue with Encore CS5 with Lion? I see my deadline coming and going.

EUREKA!!! I got it folks. I scrutinized the startup screen to see if there was one particular item that Encore was hanging up on. Turns out there was indeed a third party application affecting the startup. I didn't think to remove it prior because it doesn't have anything to do with Encore. Oh well, it's gone now.
Thanks so much for trying to help. I appreciate it.

Excellent!
What was the application, in case it helps others?

Stan Jones Sep 26, 2012 4:55 AM (in response to ESsoundproductionMac)I don't recall the specifics, but windows has a window that shows you what is loading at startup and giving some control for it. I assumed that was what he was talking about.
