    Encore timeline too short

    JOHN MONDO Community Member

When you replace a shorter asset with a longer asset (say after a client revision) Encore does not change the length of the original timeline those assets were in. (CS5.5,5,4,3,2)  This has been documented in these forums a number of times but never fixed. It is true of both the replace asset command and also with dynamic link from Premiere Pro.

You can drag out your audio asset on the timeline but when attempting to drag out the video asset you end up short a single GOP (15 frames normally).

My solution is to make sure Ieave 15 frames of additional black (at least - I normally leave two - three seconds) to ensure that whatever happens you can get around this issue.

Your only other choice is to re-import the asset, recreate chapters and links to the new timeline. That's where a lot of the work is in Encore so it's less than ideal.

Could the Adobe/ Sonic programmers please address this long standing issue? I know there is a bug submission area but I've posted problems there before only to have them completely ignored.

      Thanks
