SteveG(AudioMasters) May 13, 2012 12:15 PM (in response to Tom Mullica)I'm sorry, but I haven't the faintest idea of what you are on about here. Please explain in language we might understand. For a start, what the hell is a 'sound print'???

Tom Mullica May 13, 2012 12:50 PM (in response to SteveG(AudioMasters))you're using audition cs5.5 and don't know what a sound print is? If not, you can't help me.

_durin_ May 13, 2012 1:58 PM (in response to Tom Mullica)Hi Tom,
Noise Prints are not currently stored with the Noise Reduction presets for a few reasons: They tend to be very source-specific, are channelization-specific, and each one can take up a fairly large number of bytes.
Are you trying to apply noise reduction to several different audio files with the same noise characteristics? If all your files are from the same recording session and are the same channelization (mono, stereo, etc.) then capturing one noise print and applying the effect using the Batch Process window might work, but it won't persist between editing sessions. As a workaround, I might suggest pasting a copy of the noise print you want to use to a new, empty file. You could paste several of them in a single file and drop a marker on each to indicate from which file or session it originated for access to those noise prints at a later time.
We are researching new noise reduction tools for future releases. I'll keep this workflow in mind as we make progress, in case we can include prints or other source-specific data in the preset system.
Thanks,
Durin

No it isn't - that's a Noise Print - like it says. If you'd said Noise Print in the first place, it would have helped... It's not the sound on a file you are capturing, but a sample of the noise you want to remove. You can save that noise sample and use it on other sound files, yes. If you open the Noise Reduction effect in CS5.5, you get a choice to save your noise sample at the top. But as Durin says, that's not a preset - these store the settings in the effect, not the noise print.

_durin_ May 13, 2012 2:17 PM (in response to SteveG(AudioMasters))Well, of course the "Save Noise Print" option in the effect itself would be a much more straight-forward method of saving noise prints than my suggestion I actually tend to save them in a single file that I can pick and choose from if I'm working on a project that has several sources and I know I'll need to come back to one or another. Usually, though, I just select a print with each pass that's close in proximity to the material I'm cleaning. It's just the most reliable method for most cases.
