1. Re: The look of my file PS6 icon keeps changing to a wierd one!
Noel Carboni May 17, 2012 7:35 PM (in response to Enrique1972)What's the file type?
I'd suggest going into the Folder Options panel, View tab and disabling [ ] Hide extensions for known file types.

Enrique1972 May 17, 2012 7:46 PM (in response to Noel Carboni)It has nothing to do with that. The actual look of the icon is different on my desktop. I already have already took a look at that. See the photos, they show the file icon looking like a generic icon with the "PS" logo sitting inside. It is not supposed to look like that.

PECourtejoie May 18, 2012 7:19 AM (in response to Enrique1972)I concur with Noel, uncheck that option , or you might one day receive a file that it not what it claims to be!
But I don't know about the icon issue. I take that the AE file is on the same desktop?

5. Re: The look of my file PS6 icon keeps changing to a wierd one!
Noel Carboni May 18, 2012 7:32 AM (in response to Enrique1972)Enrique has neglected to answer my direct question and tell us what the file type of the cd_cover file he has on the desktop is. He seems to believe it is a .PSD file, but do we believe it? I can't see that from any of the information he has provided.
And Enrique, you may *think* you want that full PSD icon, but what you really need is a codec so that you can see a thumbnail of your actual image in the icon. Fooling around with reading the names on a bunch of identical icons is just silly.
And lastly, it may seem like a nice feature, but I suggest avoiding the use of your Desktop for storing files. There are Windows glitches you can run afoul of - such as the desktop not actually updating to reflect recent changes, or automatic deletion of items Microsoft deems as "broken" - if you use the Desktop.

6. Re: The look of my file PS6 icon keeps changing to a wierd one!
Enrique1972 May 18, 2012 8:40 AM (in response to Noel Carboni)It is a PSD file, I created that file just yesterday. I fixed the icon issue by "right-clicking" the file and selecting the program to open it will - and checked "Always select this program to open this kind of file." Now it look like it should. Also, the only reason the file is on the desktop was so I would have names of other files around it like you do on your image, Noel. Just a decision to not have the other files around - may be distracting for some. Apprecciate the help and comments anyway folks!
