      Lighting effects crashes Photoshop (CS6)

          Hi,

           

          Please provide more detail :

           

          what is the OS ?

          is PS CS 6 in 32 bit or 64 bit mode ?

          what is the graphic card installed on machine?

          driver version of graphic card ?

          how much RAM u have set to PS ?

          Is enable open gl checked or unchecked ?

           

          do you have any other third party plugins , if yes then try to remove them and then check

              Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit

               

              I’ve tried both 32 and 64 bit, but I generally use 64

               

              ATI Radeon HD 5670

               

              6146 MB RAM

               

              No Third party plugins

                I’m using Windows 7. It doesn’t crash Windows but shuts down Photoshop

                 

                 

                 

                Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit

                  It crashes Photoshop.  So there should be details in the crash report - which might identify if it's a driver bug or something else.

                    I don’t have any crash reports in my minidump though it is enabled. Can you tell me where I might need to look? As soon as I click on Light effects it opens but immediately a box appears telling me that Photoshop has quit working and that Windows is looking for a solution. Shortly I’m advised to close and Photoshop closes. So far as I can tell, all the other filters work fine. I also had this same problem with the Beta that I used for several weeks. Thanks, Jack

                        Hello!

                        You haven't given the version of your graphic card driver. (and it seems to be the root of the crash)

                        You can find it in help>system info in Photoshop (could you paste the top part?)

                        12.4 has been reported here as having issues. 12.2 is the most stable, it seems.

                            You crashed in the driver for your ATI video card.

                             

                            And it looks like you last updated your driver in May of 2010.

                             

                            Go to ATI's website and get a newer driver.
