Thanks for your replies Curt. I've removed all Canon software using Control Panel but I'm still getting the same error both in Photoshop CS6 and LIghtroom. Photoshop crashes when loading. Lightroom loads fine and doesn't crash until I try and Develop an Image. So it must be related to a component common to both products. I'm guessing it's related to RGB support, is there a way I can reinstall Adobe RGB? It doesn't appear in the control panel.
Any further suggestions would be appreciated!

The error lies with Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17725
Might do web search for this error and see if anything is relevant.
Make sure you have a local printer as default and not a network printer.
I see this says the Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll. Not a computer whiz but looks like this is 32 bit. Have you tried 64 bit progarm to see it if works?
There, I fixed it!! turns out when I turned off Wacom Intuous 5 services PS started working again. I don't know why this is the case, as PS worked after I installed Wacom software. I guess we're still in DLL hell. I'll try and reinstall Wacom sw and see if I can get my tablet up and running.
