luckynorth Jun 17, 2010 10:39 AM (in response to Jim_Babbage)Thanks for your reply, Jim. No, it isn't. It seems, that the color profile is changing from Device RGB to Generic RGB.

Jim_Babbage Jun 17, 2010 11:30 AM (in response to luckynorth)Well Fireworks doesn't work with - or understand - color profiles, so that is probably the issue.
The article below may be helpful.

luckynorth Jun 17, 2010 11:59 AM (in response to Jim_Babbage)Yes, i know this. And this is nice! I just want to store and insert colors without profiles!
The Apple Color Picker stores colors as Device RGB (which is without a specific profile). My problem is, that whatever profile i choose in the Apple Color Picker, FW take the Generic RGB and not not the Device RGB. I can apply the Device RGB over and over. FW takes all the time the Generic RGB.

5. Re: Problems with Apple Color Picker
King Wardrop Aug 30, 2010 12:12 AM (in response to luckynorth)I'm having the same problem. It's not a problem with Fireworks, but rather with Apple's color picker. I've been trying to get help on the Apple forums, but nobody knows or seems to care; see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12179323&tstart=0. This is literally a show stopper for me. I simply can't handle wasting my time chasing my tail around a color picker that keeps screwing me over. I'm surprised this problem isn't plastered all over the web; how are people dealing with this? The main problem, just to clarify, is the fact that the colour picker uses the Generic RGB profile, instead of the system profile. While on some color picker tabs, such as the slider tab, you can change this, it resets back to Generic RGB every time the color picker is re-opened.
LuckyNorth, have you managed to find a solution or work-around?

JonDumaine Nov 11, 2010 3:24 PM (in response to luckynorth)I've also had to deal with this issue. I at first thought I was going insane, or my eyes were going bad. Then I noticed it wasn't picking the right color. It also pisses me off that the Fireworks team couldn't make their own standard color picker to use instead of the crappy apple one. Copy and paste Photoshop's and I'd be happy. Please fix this.

Jim_Babbage Nov 12, 2010 9:35 AM (in response to JonDumaine)Perhaps this may help:
http://www.idux.com/2010/03/11/another-new-color-palette-for-fireworks/
You can set this up as the default swatch panel in for the Properties panel. It doesn't replace the actual color picker, but might be more useful to you than what is already there.

JonDumaine Nov 12, 2010 11:33 AM (in response to Jim_Babbage)Thanks for the reply, Jim!
That is a very nice color pallette--much better than Fireworks' default. Now just to find a way to get working HSV with gradients. The Color Mixer panel works fine for solid colors, but for any gradient it's useless.

Jim_Babbage Nov 13, 2010 7:03 PM (in response to JonDumaine)Check out the Gradient panel, available as a free extension on the Adobe Exchange.

10. Re: Problems with Apple Color Picker
JonDumaine Nov 13, 2010 10:29 PM (in response to Jim_Babbage)Already been using it. It's no more useful than the standard gradient editor in properties because it still uses the same color panel and picker as the standard one. Guess I just have to wait till CS6.

Jim_Babbage Nov 14, 2010 11:10 AM (in response to JonDumaine)Well, add it to the wish list. If you just leave the problem here, it won't get addressed. This is a user to user forum, and not a place where Adobe reps hang out very often.

groove25 May 27, 2012 9:01 PM (in response to luckynorth)Luckynorth, King Wardrop, JonDumaine, and Jim:
I've taken a close look at this problem, identified the cause, and outlined what I believe is a reasonable solution for the Fireworks development team to pursue:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4438130#4438130
http://forums.adobe.com/message/4443707#4443707
I encourage you each to post a bug report with Adobe regarding this issue, referencing the above thread as well as this one.
https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
The more people request a fix for this issue, the more likely it is to get done. This one seems long, long overdue. (It's been two years since this thread, and users are still struggling with this today. I myself have confirmed this as a problem at least as far back as OS Tiger.)
