1. Re: Making a Blu Ray Dual Layer Disc
Stan Jones Jun 6, 2012 1:10 PM (in response to Hindsight_Productions)I have about 30 GBs of video I want to put on a Blu Ray Disc.
What is the length of the video and what is your datarate? In other words, is the 30GB really a BD ready format at the datarate you want for quality.

Stan Jones Jun 6, 2012 3:39 PM (in response to Hindsight_Productions)I realize I am not answering your question regarding whether most BD players will play BD DL disks. My impression is that they will, but I would only use the DL if I need to.
MPEG2 at a very high datarate might look the same at a lower datarate. That's why I asked about length of program and datarate.

Hindsight_Productions Jun 6, 2012 4:40 PM (in response to Stan Jones)Well, I did trancode at the highest quality rate, but I wanted to make sure it was top quality (a wedding video).

Then you'll want to reexport out using H.264 instead of MPEG2.

6. Re: Making a Blu Ray Dual Layer Disc
Hindsight_Productions Jun 7, 2012 10:49 AM (in response to JSS1138)Okay, but what settings? My source footage is 1920 X 1080 progressive. The H.264 presets only have 1080i, no progressive option. Also, what bit rate?
I see from other posts that Blu Ray does not have a 1920 X 1080 p mode, so it appears that I will have to choose interlaced. Will that affect quality?
Also, I am confused about bitrate specs for Blu Ray. The source seems to be 50 mbps, but it appearst that I should be down around 25-30 for the Blu Ray.
