    Unbreak my heart

    tjhb Community Member

When, when, when will we have updates to Photoshop CS6, InDesign CS6, and Bridge CS6,* which will have an operational OOBE for Windows users?

The shipping versions (for all their great features, which I wouldn't want to be without) were an embarrassment to Adobe, and a strong disincentive to upgrade, both to administrators and to users.

No doubt some heads must have rolled—but I hope they weren't the only heads who can fix the problems!

So far no updates since launch.

Please give us something we can be proud of.—Even more proud of.

Something that doesn't require unsafe workarounds to run.

(*And to a lesser extent Illustrator CS6. I haven't struck the reported bugs myself and they don't strictly affect OOBE.)

If you are having particular problems with individual apps it wouldl be better if you posted in those product forums. If it's an overall problem then post it here. But what you've written makes no sense at all.

While I won't claim CS6 to be perfect I have no major complaints.

Bob you may have been out of the loop. See the shortlist of links at the end.

This is not about particular problems with individual applications.

The CS6 suite was not tested on real-life Windows installations.

            It can work, with workarounds.

            But it normally does not.

In particular if a user is logged on as a normal user, and has separated Windows system files and TEMP files (and possibly user files) into separate partitions.

Exactly as any intelligent Windows user would do, following Adobe performance recommendations.

It needs fixing. My question is when?

I'm hardly out of the loop, Tim. Fact is that it's impossible to test every given scenario for software installations.

The reported issues, while certainly a pain to those experiencing them, are not happening to a majority of users.

As for when, or even if, these issues will be fixed, only Adobe knows. Asking here will not, unfortunately, get you answer. This is a user to user forum and most of the folks here, like me, are just volunteer users.

As you can see, I've updated my previous answer while you were replying. Sorry about that.

Fact is that it's impossible to test every given scenario for [every] software [installation].

                  Quite right, couldn't agree more.

But it's perfectly possible for Adobe to test the CS6 suite (with nothing else installed) for known standard software configurations, on both OSX and Windows.

At least to the OOBE point.

And that's what Adobe didn't do for CS6.

It is absolutely obvious that they did not.

That is an embarrasment. But more importantly, it needs f~i~x~i~n~g.

Not true. (If you can't answer, by all means say nothing.)

It's quite possible that CC for example will reply (though why only poor him?), and from past experience I'd bet he would be completely honest.

It's also possible others might join the thread to protest at poor product delivery.

Both would be a good thing in my view. Adobe have really messed up.

I don’t recall seeing Chris ever post in this forum which compared to Photoshop and the other major app forums gets very little traffic.

Since you seem to think testing was so poor, may I suggest a visit here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=prerelease_interest

Yes I'm familiar with the prerelease programme and have been a prerelease member before (but only for Windows CS5 deployment).

That's not the issue. Prerelease or beta testers can and should report pre-release errors. They might miss some, but that is not their responsibility.

After release, users are all in the same boat. We can and should tell it how it is.

Ordinary, intelligent, faithful, dedicated Windows users have not been well served by the CS6 release, and we need a point update quickly.
