I work in a school district and everytime a new flash player update is released, it causes youtube to stop working until the update is applied. Many of our teachers use youtube in their daily lessons and it is pretty annoying to them to have a lesson planned using a youtube video and then not be able to use it because a flash player update came out (again !)
Teachers are not authorized to install software updates on their computers - I push the updates out via Group Policy but I am not always aware that a new update has been released so I could be proactive about it.
I would understand this if there was a complete overhaul of the software but just this week - we went from version 11.2.202.233 to version 11.2.202.235 and it broke youtube ?
Can anyone provide an answer as to why every update breaks youtube ?

What environment (operating system, version & edition; web browser & version)?
What means "stop working"; what exactly happens after the update?
After Flash Player 11.2, updates should be installed automatically (via Silent Background Update); no need to push updates. No admin privileges are required for these updates.

1. Windows XP SP3, IE8
2. Youtube stops working until the latest update is applied. When the teacher tries to play a youtube video, they get a message that says something like "In order to view this video, you must install the latest Adobe flash player" with a prompt to install the latest update. I don't have the exact message and I can't duplicate it because now the latest flash player has been installed on all of the computers.

Is it possible to provide us with an install log from one of these systems? It sounds like the update is not being completed successfully. The 225 update was security related only and should not affect YouTube viewing.
Where do I find the Flash Player installation log on Windows?
As for getting notifications, we have a forum that you can subscribe to that will email you as soon as a release is made.
Is there a way to be automatically notified when a new Flash Runtime release is made?
Thanks,
Chris

I have the exact same problem as the original poster. I've been installing Flash Player via Group policies since version 10.x Every few months everyones flash player stops working. At which time I need to download the lastest MSI, uninstall the old version(via GPO) and then deploy the new version. And usually it takes a week or more before the majority of my users are updated.(around 500)
The thing that really upsets me is that I have "AutoUpdateDisable=1" set in a file within their Flash Player folder. I had read I could stop this behavior by disabling the automatic update. Unfortunately that doesn't appear to be the case in this instance. From what I can tell, Flashplayer is installed still. It just will not function.
Here's a log of a relatively clean install. I just gave this PC to a new user a few weeks ago. Windows XP SP3 build w/minimal software.(Lotus Notes, MS Office, IE8, Java 6)
