Launch lightbox slideshow by clicking on pic or text?

Hi guys,

Last question for tonight, it's the big one: how can I configure something so that upon click, it'll launch a lightbox image or slideshow?

For example:

- If I have a pic in a text box that is essentially acting as a thumbnail, and I have in text, "Click below to embigify!" so clicking on the pic launches a larger version in a lightbox. Possibly not a larger version of the thumbnail, as on the lightbox verison I may have it cropped differently, etc. So, I want to be able to configure them both independently, one will launch the other.

- Same goes for if clicking on a pic would lauch a lightbox slideshow. ("Click pic to launch slideshow!") Maybe the pic they're clicking is just a graphic icon or something, and not actually something that'll appear in the slideshow. Click the icon to launch.

- Same goes for some selected text, clicking would launch lightbox pic or slideshow.

Really hope this is a achievable in Muse. Thanks yet again!

Hi,

You can use a Composition Lighbox to do the same. You just need to place the trigger on top of the image which is inline with the text and remove the fill for all the states for the trigger. Just make sure that removing the fill is the last step you take.

Check this small video for a demo, http://project02.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2012-06-19_2053.swf

Interestting solution, thanks Abhishek! Yes, I've already been using "no stroke / no fill" rectangles to emulate hotspots, etc., this is a simialr solution. I''ll give it a shot when I have some time this weekend, and report back.

Another very useful feature in a Muse update would be a place to create and store slideshows, and then when some text or a pic is selected, and option to configure it, "Launch slidehow..." and then you can choose from the list of slideshows you've already created, and create a new one right there.

Thanks again, best,

D

Hi,

You can do the same for multiple images as well. Use the lightbox composition for as many images as there are in the text frame and then place each of the trigger on the correspoding image in the text.

Check this small video, http://project02.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2012-06-21_0107.swf

I have not properly aligned the triggers on top of the images, but this gives an idea how it can be done. Let me know if you need more clarification.

Hi, thank you, very much appreciated.

One thing though, that's still one image being clicked on to reveal only one image. I'd like to click on one image - a picture of a book jacket - to then reveal a slideshow of 10 inside spreads.

Any chance you can help?

Hi,

You can insert a Slideshow widget inside the target of the Lightbox Composition widget.

Check this small video, http://project02.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2012-06-21_0203.swf

I have removed the picture of the Penguins from the first video and replaced it with a Slideshow widget.

That is the the finished result I'm after, thank you, but I'm still not following.

Can you bear to show how it works from the beginning. ie from the placed image of a penguin how does it turn into a hotspot and how does it it connect to the slideshow?

Many thanks

Abhishek, I have done this very thing, but my lightbox slideshows don't start on image 1. They start on random images each time they are opened. Here is the thread (I show the settings of the composition and the slideshow itself): How do I get a lightbox slideshow to start on the first image in Muse?

and here is my test site: Portfolio

Is this a bug, or pray tell, do you have a solution?

Also, this configuration is not working on the bottom row of trigger squares on the iPad. When you touch a box, you should see the words on the square (the rollver state of the trigger) .  It quickly shows, then disappears and then the square of words in the row above highlights instead. And there is no way to open the bottom row of slideshows. It works fine on the desktop. I was trying to avoid creating a separate tablet configuration, but I don't even know what I would do differently.

But any help with the FIRST problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi MaraLeo,

Just wondering if you ever found a solution to this? I'm trying to do the same thing: one trigger that opens a lightbox slideshow (80 images) starting from slide 1 without extra thumbnails etc. Many thanks - John

Thanks for the video Abhishek, it was very helpful. Nesting a basic slideshow inside a Lightroom display composition worked great for having a single trigger for a lightbox slideshow without thumbnails.

But do you know if there is a way to have the lightbox fullscreen and still no thumbnails? If I check fullscreen, the thumbnails option is checked by default and it can't be unchecked. Thanks again
