1. Re: Can I get the Crop and Straighten tool to default to 16:9?
RikkFlohr Jun 29, 2012 8:05 AM (in response to Mark Morreau)Select all the photos in Library Grid. in Quick Develop Panel choose 16x9 in the Crop Ratio Pull down. This will apply the crop to all images and place the crop in the dead-center.
Then, as you go to each image in develop, and hit [ R ] it will open the crop tool and you will have your default 16x9.

you may need a small macro. -

Gavin Farrington Jun 29, 2012 5:26 PM (in response to RikkFlohr)Rikk's method is how I'd do it, too. (Paddy is an awesome tool, but will require some configuration effort. Rikk's trick is the best way with LR's built-in tools.)
One note, you can only define ratios, not pixel dimentions, with the crop tool. That's fine, because you'll simply create a 1920x1080 export profile in the profile dialog, which will complete the circle and deliver exactly what you need.
