Onmouseover image files not included with generated output

I am running RoboHelp 9 HTML. I am publishing a small change to our project, usually quite uneventful. After the last publish to the server, someone went to test it and told me that although my change went through, my onmouseover events are now not working. None of these were part of the change so I did not touch them for this change. Looking at the generate and publish folders, I do not see the image files belonging to the mouseover event there at all, like they didn't take part in the generate and publish and were completely left out. Any ideas?

Hi there

From what you have described, you are using some custom javascript to handle the onMouseover?

This is the purpose of Baggage Files. If you reference files in a way RoboHelp doesn't understand (such as using custom JavaScript) RoboHelp has no clue it needs to also consider the separate files. So you add them to Baggage to ensure they are included in the output.

Cheers... Rick

Thanks Rick, and don't know why, but that's not what's happening. The first three image files are in Baggage already and are not included in the output. There are other mouseover image files that are not in Baggage that are also not included with the output. The entire project worked fine when I published it on March 5, there was no issue with the onmouseover events at all and the entire project in our production environment as taken from that March 5th publish is fine (except for the small change to a hyperlink that I am in the process of making).

By the way, when I right click the page concerned and View it, there's no problem seeing the mouseover event, just when it's generated/published.

Trying to figure out what changed from one publish to the next.

Hello again

Just a stab in the dark here, but perhaps examine the Single Source Layout recipe? Specifically, look in the Content Categories. Select the category you are using and look at the Exclude options at the bottom of the dialog.

Hi again,

Looked at it, both are unticked, and this is something I have not ever ticked. However, I added four of the files to the folder in the Baggage file list where they should be (my help_images folder) and now they are in the generated output folder where they should be (my help_images folder, where they were not appearing before). They still don't behave properly when I run it though, I still get the nasty window with nothing it it but the red X when I mouseover.

Ok, I've discovered that it's because filenames in my RoboHelp code are different from the published filenames. RoboHelp adds underscores to the image filenames that have spaces as it generates/publishes (I don't know why). So the Onmouseover, which has the filename with spaces, doesn't find the file. It doesn't matter for the regular <img src > files but does for the mouseover files. I don't know why this worked for the first several publishes of the project and doesn't now, I don't know why it changes the filenames, I don't know why it's only those for the Onmouseover that are affected but will now go edit all the filenames in the project that belong to an Onmouseover event.

Next time, no spaces in filenames! I'm hoping that will make everything much easier.

Thanks for your help, Rick!

I'm stumped. Inserted underscore instead of space in filenames in my RoboHelp project. Added the files to Baggage. Generated and published. Some mouseovers work, others don't.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks.
