You can use the bar at the bottom of the timeline by dragging the ends in or out
+ or - key or Alt+scroll.

Dave Merchant Jul 19, 2012 5:01 AM (in response to Ann Bens)If your mouse is over the zoom/scroller bar (in the timeline or below any of the monitors):
- it will zoom in and out just by rolling the wheel
- SHIFT + wheel makes it zoom faster
- ALT + wheel makes it pan
- ALT + SHIFT + wheel = pan faster
