Thanks Alec. Is there a good reason the designers didn't choose Delete instead of Escape?
They wanted to match the behavior of previous versions of InDesign. When you are placing supported file formats (since InDesign CS3?) you can select multiple images/etc. When you have the Place cursor with a preview, you see a number that represents the number of objects to place. You can toggle through them and you can use Escape to drop the current one.
So it's just being consistent.
I can't speak for the engineers, but I'm pretty sure they were following that logic.
While I'm on this topic: is it possible to Paste in Place a linked text frame? At present what I do is:
- Copy the original text frame
- Paste in Place on several other pages
- Delete the text from what will become the linked text frames
- Use Place and Link to shoot text into the linked frames.
But if I alter the original text frame size, I have to start again. What I need is a new option: Paste-in-Place and Link. Possible?
