1. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
JSS1138 Jul 5, 2012 4:26 PM (in response to ComputerNovice25)It would not be possible to get dropped frames from an export unless going to tape.

2. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
ComputerNovice25 Jul 5, 2012 5:14 PM (in response to JSS1138)I've actually had it happen when exporting to mpeg-2/a few other formats a couple times. But what I wasn't sure about was if it was because I was editing while something was exporting or if it just happened because of a simple fluke. But in all I've honestly i've only had this happen about 5 times out of around 500 full 28:30 TV programs. On average I edit around 5-6 full programs a week and then I generally edit several promos a week as well. I have been editing this much now for around 2 years now. So obviously since it's only happened a handful of times it's not a big problem I guess I'm just wondering if me editing while exporting the shows could be causing the issue.
I have also had video's audio get really low for no reason then go back to normal level when I still used premiere cs5. I have also had video that gets "stuck" for about 3-4 frames then plays normally directly after that. But all these issues happen very rarely. So it's impossible for me to ever hope to figure out what causes it. The only thing left I can think of that I might be doing wrong is maybe editing while I have something exporting. If it's not that then I'm flat out of ideas on what it could be. Obviously though like I said it's not a big issue since it happens so rarely. But I'm honestly just curious if It's something that I could fix or if it's just a bug that's impossible to track since I can't ever reproduce it consistently.

3. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
JSS1138 Jul 5, 2012 7:10 PM (in response to ComputerNovice25)I'm still inclined to go with "it's not possible" on this one. (Barring a bug with your installation or a corrupt media clip.)
An export will render every frame, and then transcode every frame. There is no time limit. It takes as long as it takes, and AME is actually designed to take fewer resources when you go back to PP. An export may take longer when you do this, but every single frame does make it through every single time.

4. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
ComputerNovice25 Jul 5, 2012 7:37 PM (in response to JSS1138)I guess it's possible somehow the media got corrupted. But what I can't figure out is how it has always then worked with no flaw the second time around. I guess it looks like this is gonna be one of those things I'll have to be happy to accept not understanding fully. Thanks for taking the time answer though.

5. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
Jack Banatoni Jul 6, 2012 6:42 PM (in response to ComputerNovice25)I've actually seen this happen in CS5 a few times. If I have a sequence rendering in AME while I scrub/play the sequence, it has on a few occasions glitched the exported clip. Symptoms of the glitched clip include: Windows listing the incorrect length of the clip in the status bar, clip appearing to stutter or jump frames, errors with the clip when imported into Premiere Pro.
My solution was to turn automatic render off in AME and wait until I was finished editing to render.

6. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
JSS1138 Jul 7, 2012 3:51 PM (in response to Jack Banatoni)That you were using PP when it happened likely more coincidental than causative.

7. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
Jack Banatoni Jul 27, 2012 11:46 AM (in response to JSS1138)Any other possible suggestions, Jim?
I was just confirming to the OP that I had seen the same issue on several occassions. I don't bother trying to edit while rendering in AME anymore. Don't want to risk glitched exports.

Nothing definitive comes to mind. Like I said, the export takes as long as it needs, and even gives up resources if they're needed elsewhere, taking longer but still finishing correctly each time.

9. Re: Question about editing while something else is exporting in AME
Jack Banatoni Jul 28, 2012 7:03 AM (in response to JSS1138)Every instance I've seen it happen was while I was scrubbing through the PPro sequence of the project I was encoding in AME. This was CS5, for what it's worth. Strange...
