Scripting error on install of Flashplayer

I get a scripting error when trying to install the most recent version of Adobe Flashplayer.  The pop-up says:

Error:    Object expected

Code:    0

URL:      http://127.0.0.1:2808/app/_is/index.js

What do I do next to get this to work.  I have more than the minimum req'ts for the install.

Sorry Pat, I was out of state for a month and didn't get to this til now.  Still having problem installing...

OS & V is Windows XP Professional 2002

Browser is IE.

No problem; download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.ht... and save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.
