Hello,

I have a verity collection that contains product descriptions. I have a cfsearch script that searches that collection. It works very well most of the time. However, when I try to search for items with an "&" in the description using a search term with an "&", it produces no results. This is scenario I am particularly referring to:

Product in verity collection: T&S 5HR-343-01 50' Hose Reel w/ Spray Valve
Search Term: T&S
CFSEARCH criteria: <WILDCARD>T&S* OR <STEM>T&S

Does anyone know if & is ignored in CFSEARCH? Or possibly see something else I am doing incorrectly?

Thanks!
Christine

I wonder if it is interpreting the ampersand as a boolean logical AND.
The it is reading that search as Find the String "T" AND the String "S
5HR-242-01 50". I wonder if that would affect the results.

That is a good thought. If that is the case, how to do I escape that then? I tried replacing the "&" with "&&" but that didn't do the trick. Does it need to be replaced in the verity as well?

I'm afraid I don't do enough with Verity to know. I just use it in a
couple of small applications and this issue has not come up with them.
