flash player

I am having trouble installing the latest version of flash player on my pc.  I get a messga that the program is having trouble running a script. I am using windows xp.  How do I correct the problem?

"Adobe Flasher Player did not install successfully"    after trying to install Flash Player.

Download the offline installer(s) from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.ht... and save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer(s).
