Flash 11.3 for ie9 on windows 7 64 bit won't install.

I have tried subinacl with reset_fp11.bat,  hand registering the ocx files (regsevr32), made a new admin account and tried to register flash there.... also tried .exe and .msi installers...

No joy!

Any other possible solutions?

Looks like you have already done everything possible!

There must be some registry permission problem that is not covered by the reset_fp11 procedure, but what?

If I were in your situation, I would try to observe the installation process using Process Monitor; that could possibly help to uncover what exactly goes wrong during the registration.

Run the uninstaller first, then download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.ht...

Start ProcMon, then set the filter to 'Process Name' is 'install_flash_player_ax.exe' (add), then run the downloaded installer.

You can save the output from ProcMon; let me know if I can help you to go through the (potentially very large) output; I will PM you my email address.

Hi Mark,

I have looked at your ProcMon log file, and I am puzzled -- I cannot find what's going wrong.

I see that the installer is able to create most required registry entries, but I don't see it writing anything into them.  For instance: this key

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{57A0E746-3863-4D20-A811-950C84F1DB9B}\1.1\0\win32

contains the following data in my registry:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\Flash32_11_3_300_270.ocx\2

I see the key being created in your log file, but I don't see any data written into it.

I'll attach your log file to this post, and hopefully someone from the Flash Player installer team can have a look at it.

Hi Pat,

Thanks very much for your efforts!  Well, if you are puzzled, then you can imagine I am really at a total loss how to fix this.  Maybe a windows re-install or just use firefox instead of ie9.... I'll think about it.

Any ideas "flash player installer team"?

Regards,

Mark Wilson

Could you do steps 1 - 5 in this post:

http://forums.adobe.com/message/4311497#4311497

And post the log output or email it to me at ccampbel@adobe.com?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for looking at this. I cannot make you a “good” flashreport.txt as I am unable to install properly, but I have attached the “bad” flashreport for the “unable to register activex” problem.

Mark Wilson

Hi Mark,

If you feel comfortable working with your registry, could you delete the following entries if they exist:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions

Once deleted, try installing again.

Thanks,

Chris
