1. Re: Fastest Transfer ?
Bill Gehrke Aug 28, 2012 6:35 AM (in response to coredvideo)What is the interface on the passport--possibly USB2?
What other I/O options do you both have in common?

2. Re: Fastest Transfer ?
B_Kaufman Aug 28, 2012 6:36 AM (in response to coredvideo)In my experience, there are two things that speed up transfer times. Drive speed and cable transfer speed. If you are looking for great speed, go with a Solid State Drive (SSD) and transfer with high capacity cables (USB 3.0, Firewire, Ethernet and the like).
Hope this helps!

Bill Gehrke Aug 28, 2012 8:09 AM (in response to B_Kaufman)Forget Firewire 400 it is just as bad as USB 2
Forget 100 Mbit/s Ethernet
My list:
best= Thunderbolt (Next Generation, when it becomes more readily available)
better = eSATA III if you have a new great SSD with SATA III
good = eSATA ii
next = USB 3.0
In preparation I am about to buy one of the new Gigabyte Thunderbolt equipped motherboards
