SAFEHARBOR11 Aug 31, 2012 6:43 AM (in response to Fabio Pis)Have you enabled GPU acceleration on both systems?
Thanks

Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 7:19 AM (in response to SAFEHARBOR11)yes Jeff, I did.
yellow line for both and mercury engine activated.
I think that new adobe encoder is not so fast as 5.5 version was

3. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Bill Gehrke Aug 31, 2012 7:33 AM (in response to Fabio Pis)My system is quite similar and I do see a slight difference in H.264 encoding performance on my PPBM5.5 benchmarks using both CS5.and CS6. But our workflows are quite different in PPBM5.5 and in real life I encode either as a direct export from Premiere or in PPBM5 via AME as opposed to doing it in Encore. Looking at my results (BillG) I see CS 5.5 a score of 43 seconds with a GTX580 and CS6 a score of 59 seconds. Both scores at a clock of 4.2 GHZ and the much higher (in my case) project disk array.
If you want to try a direct export from the timeline it would be interesting to see how that compares to the dynamic linking from Premiere to Encore. I do not think that ADdobe changed the encoder, it is possible that there now is just more code in between applications for many new features that CS6 has.

4. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 7:37 AM (in response to Bill Gehrke)Thank you Bill,
So you can confirm that in your case PPro 6.01 is about 38% slower than PPro 5.5?
Yes, I would like to understand better.
So i have to export in h264..which codec settings I have to setup?
Encore has a value of 15 Mbps, but I don't know if exporting from premiere settings are different.
Thank you again

5. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 8:40 AM (in response to Fabio Pis)Following Bill's idea..
Direct export from PPro 6.01 in H.264.bluray target 15 Mbps,max 30 Mbps : 7,40 minutes/s
Direct export from PPro 6.01 in H.264.bluray target 15 Mbps,max 15 Mbps : 7,34 minutes/s
Then I did a test with 'Match Sequence Settings' activated:
only 2,27 minutes
I'll roll back to 5.5 version.
I like using the new raytracing engine in ae, but my primary job is in PPro and encore
If someone could help to understand better I appreciate it
thank you

6. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Bill Gehrke Aug 31, 2012 8:54 AM (in response to Fabio Pis)Not having done that either you may have to go back and forth a little to check the precise settings but You definitely want to export the "H.264 Blu-ray" I took a quick look and the default Target data rate is 25 MB/sec with a Maximum of 30 MB/second so if you have been using the lower data rate (and why?) you will have to change that.
Also to see if you could have any CS6 setup problems you could go run our PPBM5.5 benchmark to see how your hardware compares to the other 1010 (today) results. Always make sure you first filter the results at least by version to only comare similar systems.

Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 9:01 AM (in response to Bill Gehrke)Hello Bill,
In PPBM5.5 benchmark i figure in 15th position..with my "extreme" overclock of my system!

8. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Bill Gehrke Aug 31, 2012 9:01 AM (in response to Fabio Pis)You did you test before I got my response out
What is wrong with the "Match Sequence Settings"
Is there a requirement somewhere that you have to have the much higher compression ratio?

9. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 9:07 AM (in response to Bill Gehrke)if I use adobe dynamic link i can't set Match Sequence Settings, it open encore and I could choose blu ray h.264 or mpg2. I prefer h.264
Or i am not uderstanding you help?

10. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Bill Gehrke Aug 31, 2012 9:18 AM (in response to Fabio Pis)Since I never have used your workflow, I cannot answer that. Also did you know that if you filter PPBM by versions that you are in fourth place amont the CS5.5 results which is great only 3 people with socket 2011 systems are ahead of you. With those kind of results I am sure that there is nothing hardware wise affecting your encoding. You might want to run the PPBM on your CS6 system to check that setup Expect the scores to be slightly higher on MPEG2-DVD and h.264 scores.
Lunch time here

11. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 9:35 AM (in response to Bill Gehrke)Thank you Bill for your help.
I know my great position in PPBM and I am very proud of it!
I'll try PPBM 5 with my actual setup but I am sure it's a cs6 problem. Maybe more quality but slow performance in encoding.
Update:
I have changed default H264 target from 15 to 25 (15 is default settings for encore).
7.45 minutes
Then I have used mpeg2 in encore settings with 15 mbps (default), the result is 3,45 min/s
So I achieved my best result in mpeg2 (Match Sequence Settings, grayed is a value of 15 Mbps) in direct export.

12. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Fabio Pis Aug 31, 2012 9:59 AM (in response to Bill Gehrke)hello Bill, have a good lunch there!
Here is my output:
"52","63","42","4"
For me it is good because now i am at 4.Ghz (in previous test ppbm benchmark I was @4.3 Ghz) and my system now is not so clean as it was before.
However, CS6.01 is slower than 5.5, also using basic default esport settings
thank you again

13. Re: Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)
Bill Gehrke Aug 31, 2012 12:16 PM (in response to Fabio Pis)Those PPBM5.5 Scores in CS6 would put you in fifth place in the CS6 category with your 161 total. Since you also scored so great it is not your installation. You could report it as a bug.
