I have downloaded and installed Flash Player four times. It shows up in my programs library, so I know it is installed properly. The problem is that when I go to a web page that requires it, the web page says I need to install Adobe Flash Player. What can possibly be wrong? Thanks for any tips on what I can do to fix this problem!

You mean it's disabled?  If so, go to about:addons and click the Enable button.

sheriff120, in your programs does it show Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX or Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin or maybe both? Also, what web browser(s) is showing that it's not installed?

It shows that I have Active X and the flash player plugin. But, there are no icons anywhere to run them. I use the Firefox browser.

Flash Player is a browser add-on, not an executable program.

You can test it here if it is working: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html

This makes six times I have attempted to download Flash Player. Every time it says I have to close Firefox and I do. But, it stillgoes as far as saying the download is complete and installed on my computer, but it still doesn't work.

How does it "not work"; what do you see instead of the expected Flash content?

Do you see the Flash animation at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html ?

What files do you have in

  • C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?
