1. Re: Stop Premiere Elements from downloading
Steve Grisetti Sep 2, 2012 5:59 AM (in response to fyip)It might be worth contact Adobe about this.
The program is designed to be in regular contact Adobe and, when necessary, download updates. Disabling those features might mean doing something that's a bit deeper than we would know about.

fyip Sep 2, 2012 1:10 PM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Thanks for the reply:
In Preferences you can choose to not be notified about updates.
However there is no option not to check for updates.
So that is what is happening, it is always checking for updates.
There should be a option to disable checking for updates.
I disabled updates in Adobe Reader X and Flash Player and
it does not check for updates for those.
I check manually for updates because of my connection but
mainly because when there is a update available I will go to the source
and download the update and install it myself which is the better way.
I will look for a way to disable the automatic checking for updates by
Premiere Elements and if not found I will contact Adobe as you suggested.

3. Re: Stop Premiere Elements from downloading
Bill Hunt Sep 2, 2012 2:58 PM (in response to fyip)Things might have changed, but Open PrE, and go to Help>Updates. It will run, and if updated, will show that no updates are available. Then, you can Quit, or go to Preferences (or similar syntax). There, you can set how Auto Updates are run, and for which programs.
Might be worth a try.
Good luck,
Hunt

5. Re: Stop Premiere Elements from downloading
Bill Hunt Sep 6, 2012 3:13 PM (in response to fyip)You say that it does not work for PrE. Do you mean that that Updates function is missing from your copy, or that it does not stick?
Good luck,
Hunt
