I recently downloaded Adobe Digital Editions.

I set up an account with Adobe to authorise the download.

I got 'error communicating with Adobe ID server. E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY

and I cannot use the product.

How to solve this issue?

I am using MaxOs10.5.8.

Many thanks for your answers.

You didn't allow access to ADE access to the keychain when it asked.

Try using 'Keychain Access' to see if there is a 'Digital Editions' application password item in your login keychain.

If there is get Info on it and go into the Access control tab.  Once there go add ADE to the list of allowed applications (click on the + at the bottom).
