Have been updating Flash via download for years on XP-Pro SP3 MSIE. Must say Adobe updates have been fraught with problems and frustration. Beginning two updates ago, the Update keeps crashing out with a yellow error notification window, saying Error in Line 1: ActionGtbCheck not found originating from Adobe.js. In frustration, I uninstalled Flash completely and started with a clean slate all over again. Verified that no Adobe.js exists anywhere in the system. Same error on new installation, not update. Now I have no Flash and can't download. On the Net, came across unending negative comments on the crudeness of Abobe software update tools compared to modern updating interface from other vendors. Anybody knows an way around this error ? Forgive my insensitivty.
Thanks.
Two basic simple things should fix this
Step 1:
Install latest Java - http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Step 2:
Install Flash using standalone installer - http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/
That should hopefully fix it. Let me know. Thanks!

I am having the exact same problem on the same OS. I keep everything up to date so maybe some other update is preventing this install. I would love to learn how to fix this.

Hi,
Please go to the following page, and download Flash Player for the browser you use:
Close the browser and then double-click the downloaded file.
Thanks,
Sunil

Hi,
Your suggested link took me to the page I had already visited many times.
After clicking on the Download Flash button, I saved the following file:
install_flashplayer11x32ax_gtbp_chra_aih.exe
Closed the IE8. On running the exe, the Initialization completed.
Immediately thereafter, the installation crashed out with the following report:
Line: 1
Char: 13720
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: 125.0.0.1:1742/app/_js/index.js
What should I do next ?
Thanks,
Pradip

It worked! Didn't need the Java update. Just using the standalone installer did it. Then I was able to verify that my version now is indeed the latest.
What a relief.
