Image looks a little wonky after saving as .pdf

    mhossey Community Member

After saving my business card design as a .pdf, when I open it in acrobat it look wonky. All the lines are squiggly, when I zoom in it changes, sometimes it looks like it should other times it looks worse

Is this like in photoshop when you zoom in, sometimes it looks stairstepped and other times it looks like it should? I'm sending these to print and I want to make sure everything is good. The printing company couldn't really offer me any help (gotprint.com) they tell me "no one is trained in technical support"

I really need someones support who is familiar with this

Is the text still editable text layers in Photoshop?

What is the resolution of the file?

What settings did you use to create the PDF?

Of course, this may be all for nothing if GotPrint is still doing what they did years ago which is to rasterize all PDFs.

So even if the PDF had vector text they rasterized it and the text go printed at whatever resolution they decided to use.

At least they told the truth when they said "no one is trained in technical support".

Many internet printers work the same way.

Actually yes the text is still editable, I should have converted to shapes just to be safe.

            resolution is 350

I created the pdf using the basic [high quality print] setting, since no one could seem to tell me anything pertaining to settings.

I'm pretty sure they did raster my work, I had a proof sent back to me and it looks a little...flat I guess you could say. My colors are a tint darker, and the overall card doesnt pop like it should. I'm actually glad you mentioned that, when I got the proof back my first reactino was....what? But I suppose thats the price you pay for super cheap printing.

I ended up using a tif file to send.

And no joke about the printers deal. I was doing some shirts for, and the guy at the print shop literally told me..."yea, just send a file over whatever it is we'll make it work. I think we need it in RGB, and uh...transparency. Yea I think thats it, can you do transparency in your designs? I really don't know much, I just push a couple buttons on here, and I'm good to go"

....I wanted to dunk my head in the sand after that lol
